SUMMARY:Shrewsbury Songwriters April 2025
DESCRIPTION:Free monthly socials for music writers of all levels and stages\, where they can meet up\, discuss different approaches to writing and perform new songs in a safe space with other music writers. As an optional aspect\, a brief to write to is given every two months. It is totally your choice whether you do this or not and we welcome any other songs you have written that are not done to the brief. The idea of this is to give an opportunity to push yourself into different areas\, topics and musical approaches that you may not have written about before. With a different focus area for the subject and the music sides of things\, you can really dive in and use the briefs as opportunities to experiment. These meet-ups really are completely open-to-all\, meaning that if you haven’t started writing songs or tunes yet but think you might like to try then please come along. There is no commitment necessary and you can just sit and listen if you want – you will be made very welcome! If you would like to learn more then you can either join our Facebook group (Shrewsbury Songwriters) or drop me an email on my Contact page.

DESCRIPTION:Free monthly socials for music writers of all levels and stages\, where they can meet up\, discuss different approaches to writing and perform new songs in a safe space with other music writers. \nAs an optional aspect\, a brief to write to is given every two months. What you might not know is the legend of Krampus – this dark spirit is said to visit naughty children and punish them!\n\n\n \n\n\nFor this month’s brief\, choose Santa or Krampus (or perhaps both!) as the inspiration for a song or instrumental piece.\n\n\n \n\n\nWill it be Ho\, Ho\, Ho or No\, No\, No?

Files \n  \nBy unusual bardic ways\, Shrewsbury Songwriters have managed to get hold of the top-secret S. Files\, which contain information on Spooky creatures and happenings. Only one page from the files has been decoded as of yet\, so use one of the three entries and their notes from agents to inspire your next SPOOOOOKY song. Mwah hah hah haaaaa! \n  \nThe Headless Horseman \n\nHeadless\nRides Horses.\nUses Pumkin for head.\n\n  \nSiren \n\nAlluring voice\, catchy chorus.\nHalf-Human\, half-Fish (or Chicken).\nDrowns sailors (maybe eats them?).\n\n  \nThe Cursed Painting \n\nHoused at The Nag’s Head\, Shrewsbury.\nCauses insanity and suicides.\nTo avoid curse\, have used photo of Nags Head – painting is hella creepy.

Think big choruses\, foot-stomping Fiddle finishers – think back to a performance that made your hair stand on end and your heart rise and channel that feeling into your creativity. \nI can neither confirm nor deny that you will be forced to do it at a rumoured September of Sound concert this year…
