Our next club night is on the 19th of July, with doors opening at 6:30pm and the night kicking off at 7pm.

Format
The club year is a mixture of Floor Performer nights (performers drawn from the audience, with a mixture of pre-booked and open performance slots) and Guest nights (ticketed events with a guest artist and often a workshop in the afternoon, usually by the guest). Both nights also include things like local Folk news, a raffle and lots of other exciting and community-themed shenanigans! We also have a resident band to start and end the nights off.
Our first year is going to be slightly steadier-paced, with just two guest nights in 2026, with the wonderful Fiddle player and singer-songwriter Lauren South in September and one of the best known Bouzouki players in the Folk world, Benji Kirkpatrick, in December.
We are a family-friendly club and are welcoming to all ages. Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will need to be accommpanied by a parent or guardian.
Where
Our venue is the Reabrook Club in Shrewsbury, which is a lovely space with a bar and car park. They are incredibly supportive and welcoming to us and we very lucky to be hosted by them.

Cost
Floor Performer nights are £3 per person (or £2 if you have a membership).
Prices for ticketed guest nights (and afternoon workshops) will vary depending on artist fees but we will try and keep the prices as accessible as possible.
Membership: We offer a £5 annual membership, which gives you a £1 discount off all club events in the year (so as soon as you come to 6 events in the year, you’ve made money!) As a member, you will also be consulted about any major club decisions and will be helping to support the club. You can sign up and buy your membership at any club night.
Name and Logo
The name has come from the River Severn, which winds around Shrewsbury and spans an incredible 220 miles!
Our beautiful logo was designed by local Shropshire artist Becky Woolley AKA Daffodowndilly and it depicts the shape the Severn makes when it encircles Shrewsbury,

Volunteer
The Folk club is run by the community, for the community with all money going back into the club to help cover things like insurance, venue hire, guest artist fees and website costs.Organising and running the club and website builds up quite a bit of work, so any help in running the club (or this website) would be very welcome. If you would like to volunteer, please get in touch by filling in the form via the link below.
Perform
Floor Performers: The majority of our nights in the year consist of Floor Performer nights, which are a mixture of pre-booked and open on-the-night slots. All slots are 15m and, as is usual with Folk Club floor spots, performers are not paid. You are obviously very welcome to turn up on the night and try to get one of the open floor spots but it will be first-come-first-served. If you would like to be certain of a spot, then you can get in touch with us to try and book one of our pre-booked floor spots.
Equipment: We have a PA and will be able to accommodate most simple setups (vocal mic, jack input for guitar etc.) but if you are planning to perform and you have slightly more advanced setup then please do get in touch beforehand to see if this is something we can accommodate.
Guest Artists: Our guest performers are chosen by club members, almost always from seeing them perform elsewhere. We receive a lot of requests from artists to be booked but you are of course very welcome to get in touch with us. Due to the number of requests, we might not be able to respond but be assured that we will add you to a list for future consideration.
Please be aware that we are a small club, our venue has a limited capacity and try to keep ticket prices as accessible as possible to the local community, so we are unlikely to be able to afford higher guest fees.
