The Clarkes & Co play original songs using a combination of guitar, English concertina and vocal harmonies. Delivered acoustically in the alt-folk, roots style, our set is focused on witty and meaningful lyrics and poetry with hummable melodies, written by Stephen Clarke.

From Stourbridge, Stephen (guitar & vocals) and Sue (English concertina & vocals) are a duo who are sometimes supplemented by other musicians. We have played alongside musicians of note such as Reg Meuross, Matt Joe Gow, Ashley Hutchings and Becky Mills. We have been featured on radio and played at numerous folk clubs and festivals.

We released our first album in 2024 (Darby & Joan and Other Tales) and are currently recording our second, with a third planned – we’ve passed the middle-aged mark and need to get a move on!
