Oswestry Dark Morris

Oswestry Dark Morris is a mixed-gender Morris side in the Border style of Morris bringing people together through music, movement and friendship. It’s good exercise, helps develop coordination and supports mental wellbeing—and, above all, it’s great fun, with plenty of laughter.

Border style is a high-energy, traditionally rowdy style of English folk dance originating from the Welsh border counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. It is characterised by stick-clashing and simple stepping to music. When performing in public we will be in vibrant ‘tattered rag coats’ and disguised faces using masks or grease paint.

Why not join the side? Oswestry Dark Morris welcomes anyone aged 16 or over who would like to join as a dancer. No previous experience is needed as training given.
